Project Simplify Weeks 1&2
I was reading my friend Lane's blog the other week, and she was participating in The Simple Mom's Project Simplify. Week 1 was organizing kids' stuff. I was already slowly working through Thomas' clothes to figure out what I needed for summer, so I decided to finish that up. I also needed to organize his closet and rotate some of his toys. The living room was beginning to overflow with them, and he did not play with all of them regularly.
I went ahead and did some rearranging in his room as well to make some more floor space. Its definitely not the most aesthetically pleasing arrangement, but it is the most functional.
Week 2 of Project Simplify was the fridge and pantry. That took me all of ten minutes because I keep pretty good tabs on our food. Plus we just moved in 3 months ago...how bad could it really be? I didn't take any pictures because it wasn't very dramatic. Then, I read Lane's post about week 2, and thought "uhh...our microwave is really gross too". So then I had to clean it. Then (way too many "thens") I got inspired and cleaned the outside of all our appliances. Stainless sure looks nice, but it gets fingerprints BAD and it doesn't clean up easily! No pictures of this either as it was spur of the moment.
I've decided I may need to stop reading Lane's blog. Too much work involved afterward! HAHA.

Thomas Got a Sand and Water Table!!
I took some of Thomas' birthday money and combined it with a store credit I had at an online retailer to purchase this sand and water table for about $10 of our own money. I've been researching sand and water tables for months hoping to get one for the summer and was excited when I was able to combine all this together and get this one! This was supposed to be a birthday present that came out during the summer, but since it was sitting in my living room, boxed up, staring at me every day, we just couldn't wait! Michael put it together the other weekend, and Thomas tested it out! He LOVED it! I thought he might be too young for it, and while his play in it will definitely mature, he had a great time!We had one small hiccup that it is leaking water around one of the legs. Michael says he can fix it, but I'm debating calling the company since it is brand new.

Thomas' First Booboo
So, the other day Thomas was playing in the rocks at the end of our driveway. He got up to come back to me and tripped over the lip of our driveway. This is not unusual. It has a little step up, and he's not quite coordinated enough to do it by himself just yet. Anyways, after he fell, he banged his head on the concrete in frustration. He also does this often, but always in the house on the carpet. Hmph. Well, he got a nice surprise this time. When he looked up, he had a blob on his forehead. At first, I thought it was just a rock stuck to him. But no, it was blood. You'll be pleased to know that I didn't freak out, and there were no tears shed by anyone. I just swooped him up and took him inside (at which point he cried because if he had his way we would stay outside 24/7) and cleaned up his boo boo. We had to go to the store to get some neosporin and cool band-aids. Here are some pics from our second wound care session:

Nanny's 80th Birthday!
My Nanny (Dad's mom) turned 80 this year, so we celebrated by throwing a big birthday party for her! The best part was that we managed to surprise her! Our whole family gathered for pictures that morning, and then we told her we were going to pick her up for a late lunch at 2. Of course, she was getting very antsy by 1:30ish and Pa was not in on the secret, so he was super antsy as well. Stan finally told Pa so that he would calm down and help keep Nanny in the dark! It was so funny, when she walked in, she tried to sign the guest book like she was at SOMEONE ELSE'S party! All of her friends and family were there! Aunt Cindy put together a really cute little show for us to do. Each member of the family had picture with the year when Nanny was our age on it. Then we said, "When you were my age..." When Nanny was my age, Monopoly was invented...I think...or that may have been Thomas'. IDK. Anyways, that turned out super cute. I have video of it, but its on Dad's phone. I'll have to upload it later. Here are some pics from our fun day:
