Pa's 84th Birthday

Most of my dad's family got together Saturday to celebrate Pa's 84th birthday. Although it was his birthday, these two little fellers stole most of the attention!
Thomas says, "Hey, that looks fun! I wish I could stand up like that!"

Thomas: Its MY elephant!

Martin: NO, it's MY elephant!

Thomas: Hey! Give that back!

Count how many push-ups I can do Bryan!

Oh his knees, rocking back and forth!

Oooo weee! Look at all this stuff in this box!
Thomas: Hey, give me those jelly beans! I want some jelly beans!

MSU Fan Day

We went to MSU's Fan Day last Saturday, so Thomas could get a head start on football season! We had lots of fun!! Here are some pics:
So I know he looks a little terrified, but as soon as I took this picture he busted out a huge grin!

The cheerleaders and dancers requested a picture with Thomas. No, I'm not kidding. The little blonde holding him flipped a lid to be the one holding him.

Just chillin' while we wait in line to get our picture taken with Champ the mascot.

Hanging out with Daddy

Thomas, Champ, and the Egg Bowl trophy. A version of this picture ended up in the Tupelo newspaper on Sunday.

More cuteness.

The whole family. Well Patsy could not be persuaded to attend...and the other Burks were out of town.

Randoms from the Phone

So my phone has been on the fritz and not wanting to cooperate with anything. Especially Facebook. Here are a few pics I've snapped when the camera part cooperates...I don't think they ever made it to Facebook.

Thomas up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth. (He is on the counter, but there were three people standing around. He was very safe!)

Go Patriots!

Thomas and I went to watch Miss Carrie in her first pep rally as head cheerleader of the junior high cheerleading squad at Heritage on Thursday. The girls did an awesome job! Thomas really enjoyed it. He waved his arms and smiled through most of it. I'm not sure who had more fun though. Thomas or Kim (Carrie's mom) showing Thomas off!

Yum Yum!

Thomas really enjoyed his peaches and avocado the other night!
He really prefers gnawing on the spoon over actually eating the food.

Visiting!!

Saturday Thomas and I went to visit one of my best friends from all the way back in elementary school, Lindsey! We stopped by her Granny's house and visited while enjoying delicious chicken n' dumplin's and caramel cake! Thomas was such a charmer! He was very sweet...until he got hungry! Then we stopped by Lindey's mom's antique shop! Lots of fun stuff. If you live in the area and are in the market for some home decor, stop by Three Sisters in Caledonia!
Thomas and Mrs. Pam (We know she looks like she's about to smack him, but she isn't!)

Who Needs Toys?!

When you have a wrapper! Every morning he wants to play with the wrapper from my breakfast bar. He likes to hear the crinkle and (as you can see from the blur) wave it around in the air!

Thomas Meets More Great Aunts

Two of my mom's sisters came to meet Thomas on Wednesday! He was very sweet and entertaining despite the fact that he only slept for about 45 minutes ALL DAY! He woke up stopped up with a runny nose the next morning, so I guess that explains it!

Making Baby Food

We decided to make Thomas' baby food as much as we could. Its cheaper and better for them. Plus its super easy, so why not! We made his first batch of food about a month ago when Mr. Taz (Pops) brought some fresh peaches!

Pan of fresh peaches!

Peeled and sliced

Pureed in the Magic Bullet

Pour them into ice cube trays and freeze

Thaw and feed to baby. We just did one cube.
More to come of Thomas' first table food meal!!

The First Meal

...since apparently breastmilk doesn't count!! Thomas' first meal was peaches mixed with a little baby oatmeal and one bite of pureed hamburger. He's my kid, of course he had to have hamburger! Actually, the books say breast fed babies need meat the most. We should've given him the meat first because he definitely preferred the peaches. He seemed to enjoy himself. I think he favored gnawing on the spoon over anything else. He wanted to do it himself also. We had a good time making a big mess!

Who needs food? This new bib is tasty enough!

First bite...not really sure what to do!

Oh hey I can do this!

My little helper

I can do it all by myself mom!

And its everywhere!!
For those of you who have nothing better to do, enjoy the video! Mom recorded every minute of it!

Watch Me Grow!!

WOWEE! I can't believe my first baby boy is 6 months old! How am I old enough to have a 6 month old and how did he get this big?? I just don't think I like how fast they grow! So Thomas can now do lots of things:

  • SLEEP! He goes to bed between 7:30-8:30 PM; Wakes up at 5 to eat and sleeps until 7:30-8:30 AM
  • He's currently sleeping in a sleep sack with his arms inside. He usually gets one arm through an arm hole during the night. Still in the sleep cradle. (baby steps...)
  • NURSE: still nurses a lot!! probably every 2-3 hours during the day if we are at home. He can go up to 4 hours if we are out and about and distracted!
  • Sit up!
  • Reach for toys around him.
  • Smile, laugh, and giggle!
  • Roll: front to back, back to front, both sides
  • Scoot backwards
  • Get the straw of his sippy cup into his mouth. Not so sure he gets any water out though.
  • Say: mamamamama, dadadadada, nanananana (usually when he's upset)
  • Sign "milk"; I'm not totally sure he knows he's signing milk, but he does the sign all the time. I've started saying milk and copying the sign and nursing him when he does it. I think he's making the connection because he smiles real big when I sign it back and come get him. Video coming soon.
  • He has started hugging me. When I pick him up after a nap he will cling to me with his arms around my neck for just a few seconds!
  • He knows his name. He will turn his head towards you when you say it (most of the time)
  • Learning the meaning of "no". He likes to pull mommy's hair which provides ample opportunity to learn "no".
  • He loves Peek a Boo or Where's Thomas?
  • His favorite songs: Old McDonald, The Wheels on the Bus, Little Red Wagon, MSU Fight Song, You are My Sunshine, Jesus Loves You (mommy's remix)

Bumpin' Up and Down in My Little Red Wagon

Poppa got the boys a wagon through a promotion at the store. The beer people (I know, I know, but hey it was free!) give away something each month in a drawing that customers text in a code from their packages to enter. No one ever picks up the prizes, so when the wagon went unclaimed, Poppa brought it home! Thomas loved it! Luke was a little unsure at first but had a great time too!

Beau and Reeses getting a sniff of Thomas.
Let's Go!!

Tell me that little boy is not a Burks!!
BTW: Thomas got a "happy" at Parent's Morning Out on Tuesday!!! Woop Woop! They said he was they happiest little guy! I said, now that's my little boy!!
